Luxurious Russian Penthouse Apartment

Luxurious Russian Penthouse Apartment

Russian interior design studio Geometrix transformed the interiors of this next luxury penthouse into a surprising modern space meant to be enjoyed to its full potential. Featuring a combination of dark and light colour schemes, the interiors of this scrumptious penthouse call for a certain order in furniture arrangement. The interior designers created an extremely contemporary inside living space that extends on to the terrace for a full exploration of the panoramic views of Moscow. Situated high above the city, in the Triumph Palace, a 57-story apartment building in Moscow, the penthouse is compartmented into spaces that have many accents in common. Created as a unified space, the residence balances light and dark in a carefully planned manner. Large windows allow gorgeous, uninterrupted views of the Russian capital and the generous terrace extends the living space over the city.

Kreiss Austin Showroom

I wasn't in love, to be honest, during my first visit to the Kreiss showroom on 6th, but I took some pictures to share of some of the things that stood out.

It felt more like a furniture store, like Ethan Allen, if you will.  Something was missing.

I thought these medicine bottles were pretty.  Then I saw them at Pier 1.  They were actually less at Kreiss though.

I thought this fixture would be perfect in a poolside cabana.  If only I had a cabana!
They usedlots of these squares to add color and texture.  I think I'd get tired of these at home, but I guess they work in a showroom.

Award Winning NH Lakefront Cottage Renovation

We were pleasantly surprised Saturday night at the AIANH Excellence in Architecture Design Award ceremony when our Lakefront Cottage Renovation project won TWO Awards:  The Merit Award and the People’s Choice Award in Residential Architecture!

Entries were judged on overall design excellence including aesthetics, clarity, creativity, appropriate functionality, sustainability, building performance, and appropriateness with regard to fulfilling the client's program. The entries were also previewed in the January/February 2011 issue of NH Home Magazine.  Winning entries will be featured in a future issue.

Residential Architecture: Lakefront Cottage Renovation
Architect: Jeremy Bonin, Bonin Architects & Associates, PLLC
Merit Award and People’s Choice Award, Residential Architecture

Project Description:
Originally one of eleven cabins on “The Point”, the recently subdivided property left this and one other cabin in close proximity to the beautiful beach and lake. Removal of the ‘point’ cabin allowed for a meandering path from renovated cottage to the dock as well as substantially opening the view to the lake from the remaining cabin.

A newly exposed cathedral ceiling is warm and inviting as are the reused and repositioned windows and doors for capturing lakeside views and breezes. Salvaged and refinished from the cottage are framing lumber, T&G boards and floors. Finishes and materials are low or no VOC products and even the woodstove is a found item making a new home in this beautiful location.

With material reuse and minimal site impact as two principal goals throughout the design and renovation process, the resultant cabin provides for three seasons of comfortable lakefront access and family gatherings.

The 2011 jury was comprised of representatives from the State of Maine’s architecture community: James A. Sterling, AIA, Portland; Ellen Belknap, AIA, SMRT Architects, Portland; and Walter Arsenault, AIA, Fraser Matson Architecture & Planning, Falmouth.

Juror Comments: “Understated, simple, cost effective renovation. Excellent use of limited space. Restrained and authentic in use of materials and details. In some ways, this is the most appealing project …. maybe it speaks to the desire for simplicity in all of us.”

Pretty and Chic Furniture for Smaller Spaces

We found this adorable line at the Las Vegas Market a couple of years back and we thought we share it with you.  They make really cute, adorable furniture that are smaller in scale --quite perfect if you have a small apartment or condo to furnish.   The furniture usually comes in neutral colors, which makes it easy to accessorize.  They are quite stylish and inexpensive.

Here are a few samples:

The occasional chair runs about $600, sofa is about $1500, chair about $300, bed about $1600. They have a huge web site that you can browse through here. If you need help with pricing let us know (Sunpan only sells wholesale). Shipping cost for furniture is usually high, so we don't recommend buying just one or two pieces. Usually shipping costs will exceed the price of the item.

New Silk Flower Arrangements for Spring

Happy Friday everybody!  It's finally looking like spring in LA this week.  OMG it's been the coldest, longest winter ever!

We just got some new silk flower arrangements for spring.  Truthfully, we prefer fresh flowers over silk any day, but these look really close to being real, they'll make a pretty good substitute...

We'll be posting these up in our silk flowers section by this weekend so please check back with us then. In the mean time, have a fabulous weekend!
