Blogger Tags: 6 Things about Me & Splash Awards

I've been tagged by Sherri of Just the Five of Us and Alice of Searching for Style to do a post on 6 uninteresting things about myself and tag 6 other bloggers to do the same. Also, Copy Cat Chic tagged me in the "Splash Awards" where you list a bunch of blogs that you love and tag them. I'm honestly not much of a tagger because it's so hard for me to pick only a few blogs that I love, so I'm tagging everyone who wants to join in to post a link on either of these in the comments section.

1) I agree with people when they say "time is money" but I'd rather get paid in time. My husband and I have made some decisions & life choices that have left us with less money & more time. At times it can be a little tough (we'd love to travel more and furnish the whole house right away!!!) but in the end we're always happy with the choices we've made. Time with each other and our son is what's most important to us. My husband's a teacher & is about to have the whole summer off starting next week & I'm so excited!!!!

2) I love taking pictures of my finished work. When I take a picture of a finished project in a client or friend's home, I feel totally content. Almost like it's mine. Haha I know how weird & creepy that sounds but it's almost like I don't need that gorgeous lamp in my house because it's in so-and-so's house. Living vicariously I guess??

3) Every 5 years of my life, I've cut my hair really short. (chin length) it's very weird & I never realized it until the last time I did it, but literally at 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 I've gotten the "chop!"

4) Almost every day (when the weather's nice enough) my toddler & I go outside & I lay out a blanket in the grass and we read & eat snacks & play in the yard. It's one of my favorite times.

5)My toddler is watching Teletubbies right at this minute so I can finish this post (and I'm feeling guilty, so must run!!!) eeeeek bad mama!!

6) I'm pregnant!!! (I'm almost finished with first trimester (cannot wait for that!!) and now can tell you that I have been SO SLEEPY for the past few months and was a pretty worthless helper getting things done efficiently with the move!!!) I'm also showing way sooner (I guess they say this is normal the second time around??) and am wondering how big I'll get this time?!!! :) (The pic below is a little over 4 months during my first pregnancy and I'm almost that size right now) We're so excited & the baby's due around Christmas- New Years!!
so, whoever would liek to participate in the game of tag, just post a link in the comments section!!
xoxo,

lauren

Blog Friend Meeting!! :)

So Camila, from High-Heeled foot in the door, & I finally got to meet this weekend in NYC!!!

It was so last-minute & such a fun night!!! You should click here for a better recap than I could give you (Camila- you're awesome!) and here is a picture of one of the nicest bartenders ever:

He made us a raspberry-blueberry vodka drink with mint which he called a "Valentino" and a delicious chocolate shot which he called the "yum yum" and I agreed!

What I couldn't get over at the restaurant (besides the food!!) were the GEORGEOUS GIGANTIC arrangements of forsythia in vases set up all around the restaurant. (They literally must have cut down whole bushes, these arrangements were so huge) They were just beautiful, towering over all areas of the restaurant. I tried to get a pic (below) and you can see some over the bartender's head in the pic above.
Anyway, I'm so glad to have finally met Camila & her (amazing) husband, Jon. We just had such a great time & I know we'll be doing it again soon!!
xoxo,
lauren

Blog Love: Thank you Blog Friends!

I wanted to thank Michele from "My Notting Hill" SO MUCH for doing a post on me. I'm super-flattered & really excited! :)

And ~No. 35 Style ~ also did a great post on adorable cottage lighting & put a link to my blog on there. She has some great ideas for ways to use it!!

Lindsay from LEB also set up a link to pure style home & wrote a fun post about moss and all the great ways to use it!!
Joni from the famous Cote de Texas wrote an amazing post on kitchens & included the kitchen from Beach Dwelling that I'd written about & a link back to pure style home. Thanks Joni!!

And I found myself on Room Lover which was pretty cool. I wrote a comment on there but I'm not sure if that's type of blog. But it's a very cool site she's set up. She does bios on a bunch of interior designers. It's a great reference.

And thank you to Camila from High-Heeled Foot in the Door, for a really sweet post she wrote about me. She was one of my first non-family member readers haha & has pretty much taught me how to blog. I remember emailing her after her first comments & asking her how to blog haha. And she told me! :) Thanks so much Camila!!

And how could I have forgotten, one of my FIRST EVER blog mentions (I went nutty when I got her email alerting me that she'd picked some of my posts for her favorite posts of 2008!) Things That Inspire!

And finally, Eddie Ross for his mention in his first flea market trip post. He & Jaithan carefully documented the whole trip & wrote about it on their blog, even putting a link to my website on it. Since then we've become friends & had the best time revisting them again at their (beautiful!!!) apartment in New York.

Ayway, thanks so much to all of you & I'm just having the best time getting into blogging & meeting so many new, sweet & extremely talented people. Everyone just includes everyone & it really has been a great experience. I was afraid to write comments when I first started because I thought no one wanted to hear "oh i love that!" but I realized how happy it makes me to get that from someone else & now I'm so much less self-conscious about leaving comments than I used to be. And I'm definitely looking forward to some type of blogger reunion one day!!! (Let's get thinking!! :)

xoxo,

Lauren

Thank you Lindsay!!!

I just had to share this awesome package I got from Lindsay at Everything LEB last week. I won the drawing she just had & wanted to share pictures of everything. Check out these cool gift tags she MADE(!!):

I love her adorable fish cards!!! (I'm not sure if she remembers but they were one of my favorites her etsy site which you've gotta check out if you haven't already!) They're too cute- pink glitter fish on green cardstock:

Here are the comfy J. Crew gloves & pretty pearl earrings (love those buttons):

The surprise gift in the box was this awesome Cocktail Bible that we will DEFINITELY put to good use! ;) ;)

And, last but not least she gave me this HUGE roll of simple white satin ribbon that will last me a good long while (Lindsay, I'll let you know when you need to have another contest! ;) I'm so loving this because now I can just use brown paper to wrap my gifts & the ribbon & the pretty little gift tags she made (I don't need to spend a thing & can help out the environment!) and the gifts will be beautiful!!! Here's a gift I did (yeah, I'm a little late for Christmas, but unfortunately, that's how I sometimes, er often, roll)

Thank you so much Linsday!!!! You're awesome & the package was just so beautiful, thoughtful & fun to receive!!! xoxo
